The twisting streets of the Principality of Monaco saw tragedy and triumph in a classic Grand Prix. Scotland’s Jimmy Clark took his first pole, with Graham Hill and Bruce McLaren alongside. A wayward competitor overshot the first corner, causing a chain‑reaction crash that sadly claimed a marshal’s life. Mechanical gremlins later eliminated Clark and Hill, leaving McLaren to fend off challengers Phil Hill and Lorenzo Bandini to secure his only Monaco victory as a driver. Four years later his team would debut at this circuit and eventually become the most successful outfit there. This hat celebrates resilience amid chaos.
